Olympia Events
Logistics through a £1.5bn redevelopment
Venue modernisation delivered alongside live events
Of operational data accumulated
Freight emissions now reportable to organisers
The challenge
Inefficient build, open and breakdown procedures wasted time and resources for exhibitors, organisers and staff. After Earl’s Court closed in 2014, the increased event load at Olympia demanded better efficiency at delivery gates and loading areas.
The solution
A user-centric platform letting event organisers and exhibitors create event pages, book deliveries and manage their own logistics — replacing phone calls and spreadsheet management with automated booking.
Implementation
The platform accumulated a decade of operational data, with site staff manually filling collection gaps by year two. ANPR integration and continued automation drove ongoing improvement.
The results
Olympia gained real-time operational visibility, cut congestion and eliminated double-booked delivery spots. Scope 3 freight emissions became reportable to organisers, and the same approach spread to the NEC Birmingham, ExCeL London and RAI Amsterdam.
