Antwerp Expo
Reducing congestion at the loading bays
Total queue time removed
Vehicles overstaying their slot, year on year
Driver queueing time for a booked slot
No-shows
The challenge
Antwerp Expo hosts 60 events a year drawing 6,000 companies and 500,000 visitors, producing serious loading bay congestion. The venue had no visibility of vehicle arrival times and manual check-in produced long waits.
The solution
A booking system letting contractors reserve delivery slots against set capacities, with analytics on contractor punctuality and real-time communication with drivers.
Implementation
The platform was deployed across events, with drivers accessing their assigned slots and checking in digitally rather than queueing for manual processing.
The results
Drivers queued for five to ten minutes against their booked slot, overstays fell 31% year on year, 455 minutes of queue time was removed, and no-shows dropped 15% — with average CO₂ down 7kg despite 96,164 additional kilometres driven.
“Our stand builders complimented us saying this was the smoothest build we ever had. They got their work done much quicker using Voyage Control.”
