The challenge

Structure Tone had to manage deliveries across four delivery points on a large campus while using dock and labour time efficiently. Preventing congestion required real-time visibility of which gates, forklifts and man lifts were actually free.

The solution

A cloud-based scheduling platform for the whole site, with delivery times and locations updatable in real time. The site team could keep subcontractors and shared resources operating at maximum efficiency rather than reacting to arrivals.

Implementation

Over 1,000 deliveries were scheduled in the first year, replacing phone and text-based coordination. Twenty-five trades collaborated on a shared delivery schedule with equipment resources pre-assigned to each booking.

The results

Twenty-five hours a week of back-and-forth rescheduling calls disappeared, and on-time material delivery became something the team could measure and hold subcontractors to.

“Voyage Control allows us to know exactly when materials will show up on site and we can put pressure on subcontractors when material shows up late or doesn’t show up at all.”
